Near Field Communication is a form of wireless data transfer, it allows small amounts of data to be transferred to devices in close proximity to one another. This is how credit cards are able to perform contactless payments. Each device has an NFC chip that acts as one part of the wireless link between the devices, when activated by another a chip it can transfer small amounts of data.
Originally this evolved from radio frequency identification but was developed into what it is today. The benefits of NFC is that it uses low power to function, making it very power efficient.
The Viper cup has been fitted with an NFC so that users can connect their bank details in a secure manner and are able to make contactless transactions with the cup. This will allow customers to be able to buy a drink with their cup, meaning if they forget their wallet they have a method of payment.
